I wanna help see if we can find this OC cuz this person wants to be able to get their child back and I relate to that a lot (cuz my dad keeps saying he's gonna try to get rid of one of my cats but obviously I never let him try to take him away, I saved my baby from starving as a stray and I'm gonna keep my baby for as long as I can!)

I actually used to not like writing a lot. I hated essays and short answer questions, and more often than not, I would rather play games or read books instead of writing. But around the summertime about four years back, I met my first online friend and we had discussed a story idea we shared interest in. A couple days or so later, we had started writing it for her to post onto her account on fanfiction.net. Of course, life has kind of gotten in the way of that story continuing so it's been forced into an indefinite hiatus. I also had some newly-budding story ideas at the time but those weren't too good since they were more on-a-whim instead of being planned out.
Those stories were done back when I had recently finished ninth grade. For the next two years, I just spent time watching YouTube, playing games, even started some roleplaying as either a badly-done pre-established character or a character I made up myself. Then came my eleventh grade language arts class. The teacher did things that managed to bring out the writing potential hidden in me, and after having her for language arts for two years, I absolutely LOVE to write stories. I've had ideas swirling in my head that I've been able to pick which ones might become more valuable to me in the future, and I've even had the desire to try and redo my old work to see how I've improved. I've even wanted to try and keep my first writing project going. But, that one's a two-person effort and I can't just take something from her, even if she doesn't come back for it. I may have the desire to work on it more, but I want to know for sure if she wants to keep holding onto it and write again. So, I've been working on a story where I just have myself replacing each main character in the Aperture/Black Mesa universe as my little joke story and I've started another work that's been in my mind for at least a year now. It's a story meant to bridge a gap between my first account in Unison League and its successor, and continue through the successor.
I've also had a small idea that would involve something similar to my first solo writing work but in a different way; instead of me taking or copying almost exclusively physical traits from world's I visit, I could borrow other types of things, like borrowing Hat Kid's fighting style of attacking with an umbrella and using it to fight enemies in, say, Kingdom Hearts or another game of a somewhat similar nature, or obtaining a Mage-class ability in Unison League and carrying it with me to take down enemies in its sister game, Valkyrie Connect.
But before I start on that, I want to ask: if I want to become a creative writer, what steps could I take to go from being a recreational online writer to being a more real-world author?
